Checklist
Prepare the 2027 recap
Four things decided before December save you from the usual last-minute scramble.
1. Set the account type
Automatic ranking needs per-post counters, and Instagram exposes them for Creator and Business accounts. If you plan to use an app, decide now rather than on 28 December.
2. Pick the metric for the year
Likes, saves or comments. Whichever you choose, say it in the recap: it turns a grid into a statement.
3. Keep a list of posts you would want to see again
The ranking will surface things you forgot; a short personal list tells you whether the numbers agree with your taste.
4. Block the last week of December
The card itself takes minutes. The export, the caption and the Story timing take the rest — so decide the day in advance.
The December checklist
- Export both sizes: Story 1080 × 1920 and feed 1080 × 1350.
- Check the nine tiles at 3:4 with a three-pixel gap.
- State the metric in the caption.
- Post between 27 and 31 December, Story first.
When should I start preparing?
In January, but only for the rhythm and the account type. The card itself is a December job.
Do I need an app?
No. But an app that reads published posts is the only way to get an automatic ranking rather than a hand-picked collage.

The app builds this card from your published posts.
Prevz reads your Instagram account (optional, read-only), ranks your nine by likes, saves or comments, and exports a Story at 1080 × 1920 or a Post at 1080 × 1350.
